Every summer the Dresden Stadtfest takes place centering around the Altstadt and spreading to the Golden Rider statue in the Neustadt. Theatre productions, puppet shows, children's activities and food and drink galore are on offer. Towards the evening the party really gets going with bands, street artists and other live entertainment which climaxes on Saturday night with an impressive fireworks display over the river Elbe.
